Experienced Trauma Specialists
A life can be shattered in one moment by a severe injury from an accident, misuse of heavy machinery or even a major fall. Orthopedic trauma is a serious injury to the musculoskeletal system such as bones, joints or tearing of ligaments. Sometimes this trauma also involves internal organs or nerve damage, severe bleeding and shock.
Aaron Askew, MD and Ari Amitai, MD are fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma surgeons, trained in repairing orthopedic trauma from head to toe. They lead the team at Desert Orthopedics in managing serious orthopedic injuries and are known for helping patients feel hopeful that their lives can once again return to normal.Accidents
Dr. Askew works with a team of physicians, depending on the physical trauma, to diagnose a patient’s orthopedic condition in conjunction with other necessary procedures to treat the whole person. These complex situations may require surgery that takes into account more than broken bones.
Desert Orthopedics is highly qualified to assess the priorities of a patient after an accident to ensure priority steps are taken to begin the immediate process of orthopedic repair and recovery. We also work with other physicians in the case of severe injury, to manage the orthopedic condition while others are concentrating on internal medicine.
In a severe break, the surgeon sets the bone and may utilize hardware and devices to aid in the healing. A variety of brace options are considered following surgery with ongoing consultation during recovery.Recovery and Healing
In the case of severe injury, an excellent diagnosis, assessment of damage and appropriate surgery is just the beginning of our work with patients. We believe in treating the whole person from repair to full recovery.
